A movie that impressed me recently...

Disclaimer: This is not a review of the movie. I am putting across my views on a movie that impressed me recently.

"A Wednesday!!!"

I like to watch a lot of movies - predominantly Tamil, English , and Hindi movies. I was told by a couple of my friends about this good Hindi movie - "A Wednesday" - starring Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and others. So I saw this movie without too much of an expectation (something that I would appreciate other first time viewers to follow).
At the end of the movie, I was mighty pleased and impressed. There were many things that made it so. I liked the narration - simple and straight to the point, keeping the audience interest alive. The story was not tampered with, to add songs and other unnecessary commercial elements (Thank God!).
The story in itself bagged immediate attention. We as common people like to see things to happen in reel that cant happen in real. Superheroes, one Savior for common man, Utopian living condition, all is well family and so on... I am no different to this expectation, and for once I felt this movie actually exceeded mine with a very realistically centred plot. May be I like this because it is so much bordered on reality and yet might never happen. There are many people around who wish something like this be done. It shows us how desperate people are to live peacefully in their world. Undoubtedly, the way this message has been put across deserves applause. From start to finish, it never sagged, never looked violent, never unethical, never melodramatic which is why this turned out to be a very good movie.
The main players - Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher, portrayed their roles perfectly. Their voices lends that extra factor to their acting. Hats off to Naseeruddin Shah for carrying it out with ease in his unique style ...
Its been quite sometime since I whole heartedly felt great about a movie - the story, the script, the characters, the message.. everything about it. I appreciate the director, story writer and producer for such a bold plot (wonder how censor board didn't object to it). It was such an impressive and riveting movie from start to finish - literally till the last scene. I enjoyed it.

Truly a near perfect execution of a bold plot!!!!!

Intelligence is over-rated! Is it?

Intelligence - a word that sounds alien and within reach at different times. I have had long discussions with my friends as to what exactly is intelligence and how important is it in life. For the purpose of making this blog short lets confine intelligence to academic sense. So how important is intelligence to be successful in academics?

One of my friend always says this: "intelligence is over-rated, hard work can more than compensate". He supports his argument with many of those PhD students being less intelligent than others but still compensating with their hard work. The other point in his support is it is not necessary that the most intelligent guy always succeed in academics.

On the contrary, every person must have some basic intelligence to succeed in academics. Lets assume that hard work + intelligence = success. intelligence cannot be 0% and hard work 100%. There has to be a decent contribution from both components to succeed. How else can one explain a student who fails in an exam even after hours and hours of effort. Some may argue that this is due to the lack of interest - but I believe hard work is generated only if you have interest.

So where does this leave us - two contradicting strong points. After much thought, and discussions with so called wise men , I came to the following conclusion:-
Intelligence is slightly over rated. Every person has a little of basic intelligence (which I believe every human being is gifted with). The lack of high level of intelligence can be compensated. Believe me this compensating factor is not just hard work. It is "hard work + confidence + interest". Once you develop these three in the field of work, a person can definitely compensate for lack of intelligence (if at all).

I do expect others to have varying opinions and comments on this; still I believe I have a strong point in the above conclusion.

my recent thought

This is my first attempt at blogging. Never felt like doing so till today.
And here I am all of a sudden at 4.48 am writing my first blog. I want to write/share/think/know through this blog space.
As a start here is something that I felt about life ... (recently)

Every moment in life is "Beautiful"
For its solitude
and For its company;
For its rightness
and For its wrongness;
For its ups and downs;
and most importantly:
For the sheer pleasure of living your own life once ...... and only once .... !!!

Always,
Karthick
